One of our constant and most important projects includes the solid help we have been giving to a society that stems from a very rocky past including civil wars, tsunamis, poverty and violation of human rights.
With part of the proceedings of the sale of the festival tickets, the German NGO Stop Staring Start Caring e.V. has been able to build a solid access road, a drainage system and part of the roof for the ‘Pahan Tharuwa’ building: a new home for unwed expecting underage mothers of the region around Wellawaya.
One of the movement’s constant and most important projects have been the solid help we have been giving to the island, a society that stems from a very rocky past including civil wars, tsunamis, poverty and violation of human rights.
As many of you already know, parts of the proceedings from the sale of the festival tickets are donated to the German NGO Stop Staring Start Caring e.V. This year we have doubled the share to be donated to the project and with the sale of the first 350 tickets we gathered the first batch of funds to clean the location area and the surrounding spaces. We engaged with the local community, some 30 families of the nearby village, who are employed in the cleaning and recycling process. After being gathered, the plastic will be segregated and given to the NGO that runs a project to make construction bricks from recycled plastic and waste.
Isn’t it great?
We wanna thank all the people who made it possible through the early purchase of Atman Festival 2019 tickets
